Adam and I met while working at McDonald's in the summer of 1999. I was about to start my Junior year in High School, and he was about to start his Senior year.
I actually became friends with Adam's younger sister Annie. We worked many of the same hours and were interested in many of the same things. I sort-of knew who Adam was through Annie, and by working with him. I knew he was the shy guy who worked in the grill who was late opening every other Sunday morning. He was the guy I could give a hard time because he was late those mornings, and I also knew he wasn't a big morning person. He was serious and loved to work on computers...I was interested...and intrigued...I don't know why, but I was (and still am)!
I got to know Adam more after the school year started back and we started working nights. We would close together during the week, and would work mornings on the weekends. He was still late at least every other Sunday...One of his friends found out we were interested in each other...He was a nosy friend...(if he ever reads this...thanks Ryan!!). Adam and I exchanged e-mail addresses and ICQ numbers (weird...but practical!) and we started e-mailing each other and messaging via ICQ.
Adam finally got the courage and asked me on a date. We went on our first date on October 9, 1999...and I've never looked back. We survived going to high school at different schools, proms, graduations, job changes for both of us (my job change only lasted a week...then I went back to McDonald's), spending only the weekends together, living 70 miles apart, and me going to college. We were engaged in December 2004 and got married on June 4, 2005.
I think as the older we get and the longer we are together, the more our love continues to grow. He is the most patient man I have ever met...and anyone who can put up with me for almost 11 years has got to be patient.
A year after we were married, we decided we wanted to start a family. We talked about it throughout the first year, but decided to wait...since the first year is supposed to be the hardest. After a year of trying on our own, we decided to get help. We had two early miscarriages in January 2008 and June 2008. Our dreams finally came true in December 2009 when we found out we were expecting...and finally...just finally...everything seemed to be going well! Bailey Danae was born at 23 weeks gestation on April 30, 2010 weighing 1 pound 4.8 ounces and 12 inches long. She was born at 3:33 a.m. and left this world at 4:27 a.m.
Adam has given me the greatest gift of all...he has given me a beautiful daughter, that even though her time on earth was brief, she was loved by her mommy and daddy, her grandparents, and slew of family and friends.
Our journey isn't over...and story has many more chapters to be written. You'll just have to stay tuned to find out what happens next!
